As Creative Director, I made two significant changes to the core delicious mechanic: 1) allow Paige to have an effect on customers; and 2) allow players to choose their restaurant menus to maximize profits.
The new gameplay was so popular, it has since become a key element to the core, Delicious mechanic (and many of it's companion brands).
