NARRATIVE DESIGN
Humans are hard-wired for narrative. To hear a story is to be transported, to play a story is to be transformed. Through characters, world-building, storyboards, dialogue, and tutorials, I propel the player into realms both familiar and fantastical. In my narratives, nothing is as it seems. Everyone here has secrets. Some are mad. Some are just plain silly. All are whimsical, quirky, and odd.
Game Narrative
The writing samples linked below provide a sense of the breadth and versatility of my writing. Cyan buttons represent password-protected samples for unreleased or otherwise copyright-protected content. If you're considering working together, please request access to my client portal.

World-Building
Narrative design goes beyond the words a character speaks. It infiltrates every element of a game or product and informs every external communication and costly marketing campaign. World-building documentation can be thankless, as most people, including teammates and stakeholders, won't read it. However, it remains vital. It communicates that this place and these people are real beyond the moment, making them alive in the player's mind.

Scripts
Dialogue is what hooks the player. If they laugh, all the better. I've written full-length scripts for a dozen games - primarily romcoms and spooky mysteries, and I've acted as the narrative lead for three franchises. These writing samples represent some of my most successful stories. The Primrose Lake shows sample scripts formatted for import into Unity. Edutainment
In 2023, I was invited to write Season 3 for Stephen & Dewey--a Blue's Clues-like program in South Korea. The client, Grow V, had created two seasons of content to teach children English, and they wanted the last season to have more sophisticated plots for school-aged kids. Though the constraints were many, the challenge only made it more fun. This project is a great example of how time and budget limitations can lead to something boundlessly enjoyable for everyone involved.
